The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

Whenever a major awards ceremony approaches, one notices a demand for introducing fresh award types to honor unsung work and fill the spirits of followers with niche passions.

My colleague has already made supporting a scary games classification. That would rule. The same goes for strategy board titles, which is someone's personal cause. Yet I need to apologize in advance when I prioritize just as with other single-minded supporters, I possess a compelling case for why my demand is the most urgent and significant. This is the request: There should be an award type for logic-based games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and it will always start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why film award organizations avoid this approach. But it is a necessary evil within the realm of gaming, showing incredible range they hardly constitute a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, and for games of all stripes to compete fairly, classification by type becomes crucial.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Leading game ceremonies currently feature classifications covering Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these six categories effectively encompass numerous genres, making space possible for most games within them.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. No appropriate category exists to accommodate them. Consider three of outstanding current releases, all very different: building puzzles from a specific release, intense tile-matching in a different title, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. What category would fit them among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.

The Representation Problem

Numerous examples exist of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly lacking appropriate categories at major award shows, except when they manage to fit award groups including Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging independent game categories.

  • A renowned logic title received no recognition completely in 2014
  • Another imaginative release was excluded that year
  • Well-received sorting experience was overlooked recently
  • Only a few logic titles barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Value of Brain-Teasers

Commonly they're small games, but the art in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Well-known matching games count as the most-played games worldwide continuing this trend for many years.

The famous puzzle experience competes with popular creative games competing to become most purchased experience; it also contends for best game of all time. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks within interactive entertainment, while interacting with almost every other genre.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. It would be easy to populate five nominees engaging, different, qualified experiences every year with ease — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these are games lacking appropriate categories at major gaming awards. Logic title developers operate at the challenging frontier game development, creating some of most fundamental forms within interactive entertainment. Similar to film action specialists, they merit acknowledgment. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
